The best way to know whether a school is right for your child is to stand in the room where they would spend their day. Tours run year-round, and we will show you the actual classrooms your child would be in — not just the lobby. You will meet teachers, see how the day is organized, and get your questions answered by someone who knows the answer.

Who we care for
We care for children from six weeks old through pre-kindergarten, and we run school-age programs — before-school and after-school care, plus a summer program. Our classrooms are grouped by age, so a family can stay with us from infancy right through the elementary school years.

How enrollment works
Four steps, and we will walk you through all of them.
1. Join the waitlist. Complete the waitlist form with your child’s birthdate and the date you would like to start. There is a $50 administrative fee, which is credited toward your registration fee if your child enrolls.
2. Send the fee. Mail your $50 check to Rock Spring Children’s Center, 6555 Rock Spring Drive, Suite 150, Bethesda, MD 20817. You are officially on the waitlist once we receive it.
3. Tour the school. Before or after the fee — your choice.
4. Accept your space. When a spot opens for your child’s age group, we will call you. A deposit of one month’s tuition holds the space, and it is applied to your final monthly statement when you leave, provided you give a calendar month’s written notice.
We do our best to fit families in when they need care, and when we can see a spot coming, we tell you as early as we can — often several months ahead. Enrolling more than one child? Submit a separate form and fee for each. Already part of the Rock Spring family and expecting? Complete a waitlist form when you know you will need care, and type “current family” in the referred by box.
What your tuition covers
We publish our full rate schedule — most centers do not. Current monthly tuition for every age group, ratios, and the fee structure are all on our Tuition & Fees page.
Tuition includes:
- A full-day, year-round program, Monday through Friday
- Breakfast and an afternoon snack every day, plus milk, and formula and cereal for infants
- Weekly music and movement classes
- Outdoor play across six outdoor playground areas with expansive open space
Lunch comes from home, or you can add our optional lunch program. Ballet, soccer, and JumpBunch are offered at the school by outside providers, and families who want them pay those companies directly.
As a nonprofit, our tuition is simply a reflection of what it costs to care for each child well.
The practical things parents ask
Hours. Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Extended care runs until 6:45 pm for an additional fee — just let the office know by 4:00 pm on the day you need it. For families commuting back from DC or coming off the Beltway at rush hour, that extra 45 minutes is often the difference between a calm pickup and a stressful one.
Year-round. Full days, all year. No long summer closure, and no scramble to cover school breaks.
Parking. Free drop-off spaces near the entrance, plus a garage at 6555 Rock Spring Drive that is free for the short stays drop-off and pickup take. Stop by the office on your first day for a bumper magnet.
Subsidy and vouchers. We accept State of Maryland and Montgomery County child care subsidy, along with military child care vouchers. Call us at 301-530-4526 and we will help you understand how to use yours here, or how to apply.
