Tuition & Fees

Nonprofit tuition

Rock Spring Children’s Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Tuition is set to cover the actual cost of care, including small class ratios and an experienced, well-supported teaching team. No owner or shareholder profits from our school; every dollar supports our classrooms and the families we serve. If cost is a concern, ask our office about child care subsidy programs and military fee assistance.

*Tuition and fees are subject to change. The school strives to provide three months' notice of such changes. Tuition rates typically adjust each September, usually about 5%.

What’s included:

  • Full-day, year-round program (Monday–Friday)
  • Breakfast and snack daily, plus formula and cereal for infants
  • Weekly music and movement classes
  • Outdoor play on six outdoor playground areas

Optional activities, such as ballet and soccer, are offered at the school by outside providers. They are not part of tuition; families who want them pay those providers directly.

As a nonprofit, our tuition is simply a reflection of what it costs to care for each child at the school. To provide the best environment possible, our community of families and caregivers needs active participation by parents. Parental participation is encouraged and expected in such activities as chaperoning field trips, participating in class parties and social events, helping with fundraisers and donating to the school and/or contributing in other ways to meet the school’s needs.

Enrollment Fees and Deposits

  • A deposit of one month’s tuition is required to hold a space when offered. If you accept a space and then elect to not enroll your child at RSCC for any reason, you will forfeit this deposit.
  • The deposit is held by the school and applied to the child’s last monthly statement provided parents give written notice at least one calendar month prior to withdrawal and the child has been enrolled in the school for at least 2 months (3 months for infants).
  • A non-refundable registration fee of $50 per child is required at the time of enrollment. This is credited from your waitlist fee if applicable.

Tuition FAQs

Families joining the Rock Spring Community understand that a nonprofit is supported by the families who are enrolled. Tuition is based on the age range of your child’s classroom. These rates typically decrease as your child gets older and moves up to the next age group. All tuition rates are monthly regardless of class days per month. We cannot offer discounts or credits for holidays or absences.

Sometimes, yes. Most children attend full time, and our classrooms are planned that way, but when we have space that would otherwise go unused we are glad to discuss a part-time schedule. Please email our Executive Director Carrie Meyer at carrie@rockspringcc.com. Include the name of your child, birth date, preferred start date, the type of schedule you need and whether you have any flexibility. Carrie will check the enrollment plan and make every effort to accommodate you.

Spots open at the beginning of the month. When families start or end in the middle of the month, tuition is charged at the lesser of the daily rate or the full monthly rate.

Payment can be made by check, or by credit card by creating a Procare Account (additional fee applies). Checks should be made payable to Rock Spring Children’s Center or RSCC. Unless prior written arrangements are made, all fees must be received on or before the first day of each month. A late fee of $25 is imposed for payments not received by the fifth of the month, plus a $5 fee per day thereafter until balances are paid in full. A $35 fee is charged for each returned check.

In the very rare instance where tuition is not paid by the 10th day of the month, enrollment must be suspended until the tuition is paid. Continual late payments can result in immediate dismissal from the School and forfeiture of deposit.

RSCC provides weekly music and movement classes. By popular demand, we also have outside services that offer extracurricular activities at the school including ballet, soccer and JumpBunch. Families interested in those activities for their children pay those companies directly to participate.

RSCC provides breakfast, an afternoon snack (two for toddlers), milk, and infant formula. Parents just need to provide lunch for their children and any special food or drinks they may require, such as bottles for infants. We have an arrangement with an outside food service to provide lunch daily for children, in the toddler classes and older, at a cost of $75 per month or $5 per day. It is $6 per day if you are not signed up and forget to bring a lunch for your child (we understand it happens sometimes 🙂 ).

You will find Rock Spring to be a community where teachers and families care for each other. Our families understand teachers have their own commitments, so late pick up is rare. When it cannot be avoided, parents pay a cash fine of $10 for each 15 minutes or portion thereof directly to the staff. Continual late pickup will result in dismissal from the School. If you think you may not be able to pick up your child by 6 pm, call the School to see if extended care is available.

Yes. Extended care is available until 6:45 pm at an additional charge of $100 per month or $10 per use. However, you must notify the school by 4 pm if you plan to use this service. Extended care is not available on days when we close early for inclement weather or when we have RSCC events at the end of the school day (Back to School Night, Potluck Dinners, Graduation, etc). Any other days will be announced in advance.

The school offers drop-in service, space permitting, at a daily rate for families who need short-term care. The fees are $145 per day for preschoolers and $170 per day for infants and toddlers. Drop-in services must be reserved in advance and are only available when space allows. Call or email office@rockspringcc.com and we will try to respond as soon as possible.

Rock Spring Tuition Scholarships

Limited need-based tuition scholarships are available, up to $750 a month ($9,000 a year). As a nonprofit, we set aside scholarship funds so that more local families can choose Rock Spring.

Scholarships are separate from the state’s Child Care Scholarship subsidy and military fee assistance, which we also accept.

Ask about scholarships on your tour, or call our office at 301-530-4526.
